Folders and Solutions
The Folders and Solutions button (home > Solution > Folders and Solutions) opens the Folders and Solutions form, which can be used to create new folders and make changes to any of the folder and/or solution settings. The DMS security rights given to you determine the kind of changes that you are allowed to make on this form.
Creating a new folder
Once you are connected to DMS, you can create new folders. Click the Create New Folder icon
to open the Create Folder form. On the Create Folder form, enter a name in the 'Name' field and either select a folder from the 'Location' drop-down list (to create the new folder within that folder) or select 'Top level' to create the new folder at the highest level.
Work Check this option to mark the folder as a 'working' folder. In a 'working' folder, you can save the non-final versions of your model.
Changing security
On the Folders and Solutions form, use the Change Security icon
to change the owner of a folder, or to change the authorization of a folder or sub-folders. Ownership means your DMS security rights are set to 'Administrator' for that specific folder.
Changing folder owner
To change the ownership or administrative rights for a folder, select the folder for which you want to change the ownership and click the
icon . This opens the Security form. You can select any user that is shown in the drop-down list as the new owner of the folder. The owner drop-down list shows all users that already have some access to the folder. If you need to make someone owner that does not appears in the list then first give that user Reader rights to the folder. That user will then appear in the drop-down list and can be selected as owner. If a user is made owner, by default that user will get Administrator access rights. Click OK on the Security form to apply the new owner to the folder.
Changing folder authorization
You can setup the security for folders and underlying sub-folders for multiple users. On the Folders and Solutions form, select the folder for which you want to change the authorization and click the
icon to open the Security form. In the Users section of this form, for each user, the administrator can select one of the five authorization definitions to give access rights for the selected folder. The security settings for any folder is set up exclusively and is not affected by the access rights already set at a higher folder level. You can however, (add and) change the authorization definition for a user for a folder and all its subfolders in one action.
